Position Summary
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist ensures patient safety in the stress lab, administers radioactive substances, and operates diagnostic imaging equipment. This role includes cardiac nuclear medicine, bone density, and treadmill stress testing, supporting physicians in diagnosis and treatment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform nuclear medicine imaging, bone mineral density scans, and exercise stress testing
- Compile and verify patient history prior to procedures
- Adhere strictly to radiation safety and ALARA principles
- Monitor patients during and after procedures; respond to emergencies as needed
- Analyze results, prepare reports, and alert physicians to abnormalities
- Maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot, and clean equipment
- Oversee radioactive material usage, licensing, and waste management
- Assist in developing and implementing clinic policies and procedures
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Diploma
- Current CAMRT and ACMDTT registration
- BCLS Certification
- Strong knowledge of cardiac imaging and radiation safety
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational ability
- Professional, empathetic, and able to reassure patients
- Competence in medical software and record-keeping
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diagnostic team
