1 Year Term Position

Location: Medicine Hat
Clinic: Southern Alberta Medical

Southern Alberta Medical is seeking an Echocardiography Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer (Echo Tech) to support our cardiac imaging program and help maintain timely, high-quality diagnostic services for patients across the Medicine Hat region.

This opening is meant to support continuity of patient care within the clinic’s diagnostic imaging program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform and analyze transthoracic echocardiograms (12 patients per day)
  • Acquiring high-quality diagnostic cardiac ultrasound images
  • Generate preliminary reports and communicate findings with cardiologists
  • Ensure patient comfort, safety, and dignity throughout examinations
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and perform routine QC documentation
  • Maintain accurate patient records and reporting
  • Follow clinic infection prevention and control procedures

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Current registration with Sonography Canada or ARDMS (required)
  • BCLS certification
  • Minimum 1 year echocardiography experience preferred
  • Experience with GE Vivid S60N systems and ViewPoint reporting
  • Experience with contrast echocardiography considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and ultrasound principles
  • Strong technical, analytical, and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent patient communication and bedside manner
  • Professional, detail-oriented, and collaborative team member

Position Details:

  • Term contract position – Monday to Friday
  • Approximately 8 hours per day
  • Supportive and collaborative clinical environment
  • Access to onsite gym facilities for staff
  • Position structure and scheduling may evolve based on clinic operations and patient demand
